Clinical Trial 57257

NATIONWIDE

Summary:

Lupus - Multiple Locations in the US

The DAISY trial: A clinical trial for people living with systemic sclerosis/scleroderma (SSc). This is an Autoimmune Trial & You trial.

It is estimated that about 300,000 Americans have scleroderma. About one third of this group of people have the systemic form of scleroderma (SSc). Since scleroderma presents with symptoms similar to other autoimmune diseases, diagnosis can be difficult. SSc is more common in adults. However, SSc can develop in every age group from infants to the elderly; its onset is most frequent between the ages of 25 and 55. It also affects females four times more often than males. 1

What is DAISY?

Autoimmune disease such as SSc can greatly affect the quality of life. Although there is treatment available for SSc, most patients must take the time to attend regular trips to the doctor for infusions. To improve the ease and convenience of life for people with SSc, DAISY is looking at a potential new treatment option that people can do at home.

AstraZeneca understands the impact that autoimmune disease has on people’s quality of life. Although there is treatment available for SSc, most patients must take the time to attend regular trips to the doctor for infusions. That’s why we’re working on trials such as DAISY, to hopefully find new and more convenient treatment options that people can use at home.

DAISY is looking to see if weekly at-home injections of a study treatment called SAPHNELO® may be effective in treating people with SSc.

SAPHNELO® is the brand name for the medication anifrolumab. This medication is a monoclonal antibody. It binds to the type I interferon receptor, blocking the activity of type I interferons such as interferon-a and interferon-B. 2 SAPHNELO® is already approved in the United States to treat adults with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but it has not yet been approved by the FDA for use as an injection for SSc, so its use in this trial is investigational.

How can I join DAISY?

DAISY may be right for you if you:
