Summary:
We are looking for individuals aged ≥18 who present with gum bleeding and redness. Interested and qualifying subjects will take a dietary supplement delivered in the form of a chewing gum that has nitrate, daily during a three-week period. Dietary nitrates, which occur naturally in vegetables, may provide cardiovascular and other health benefits.
Study will involve:
- dental exam,
- collection of saliva (spit),
- collection of blood and
- non-invasive measures of heart health.
Qualified Participants Must:
• Non-smoker
•
20 teeth minimum
•
mild-moderate inflamamtion of gums
•
no or well-conttrolled diabetes
Qualified Participants May Receive:
- basic gingival evalaution
- $200 stipend
