Summary:
The purpose of the study is to weigh the effect of adding canagliflozin (Invokana) or placebo to the usual medication of children and adolescents who have diabetes type 2. Children on diet and exercise alone to control their diabetes may also qualify for the study. The medication is already approved for treating adult type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The study will last 59 weeks for the participant.
Qualified Participants Must:
• Be between ages of 10 and 18 yrs and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 1 diabetes do NOT qualify for this study

They may be using medication or only diet and exercise to control their diabetes.
