Heart disease is a term used to describe several conditions, many of which are related to plaque (cholesterol) buildup in the walls of the arteries. As the cholesterol builds up, the arteries narrow, this makes it more difficult for blood to flow and creates a risk for heart attack or stroke.
If you have high cholesterol and are taking a statin (cholesterol lowering medication) and at risk for heart disease, you may be eligible for a new clinical research study that is being conducted to see if adding an investigational cholesterol lowering medication to your current treatment will reduce the amounts of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) “bad cholesterol” in your blood.
This study is a little over 3 months including 5 office visits. All visits are conducted locally in Salt Lake City, Utah.
