Clinical Trial 37896

Sacramento, CA 95821

Summary:

Northern California research is looking for participants who have a diagnosis of gout to participate in a new study. Participants must be ages 18-85 and taking medication to control their uric acid levels. The study being conducted is for an already FDA approved medication that would be taken in combination with your current medication. The allowed current medications you should be taking would need to be either Allopurinol or Febuxostat (Uloric®).

This is a double-blind study, which means neither you nor the study doctor will know what medication group you will be placed into. You will be randomly assigned by chance (like rolling a dice) into one out of two different study medication groups. You have an equal chance of being in the medication group with the study medication or a placebo. As previously mentioned you will be able to continue taking your current prescribe dose of Allopurinol or Febuxostat (Uloric®), along with colchicine for preventative gout flare ups. All of the mentioned medications will be provided to you free of cost during your participation in the study. This study is 2 years long and includes 14 office visits.

Qualified Participants Must:

• Be 18 to 85 years of age
• Be diagnosed with gout
• Be on a stable dose of Allopurinol or Febuxostat (Uloric) for at least 4 weeks

Qualified Participants May Receive:

All trial-related visits, tests, and medications will be provided to you at no cost. In addition, reimbursement for trial-related time and travel may be provided. Please fill out the survey and we will be contacting you to provide study specific information.
