Heart failure is when the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood through the heart to meet the body’s needs for blood and oxygen. It is a serious condition – one that may get worse over time.
The most common causes of heart failure are coronary heart disease (CHD), high blood pressure, past heart attacks, and diabetes. Lifestyle factors – like smoking, being overweight, eating foods high in fat and cholesterol and physical inactivity – may also increase the risk of heart failure.
A new research study is being conducted to learn how an investigational medication affects physical changes to the heart, how it works, and how measurements can be used to monitor overall heart health.
