  • Research Site Introduction:

    Meridien Research is comprised of four dedicated research centers with a proven track record of high enrollment in a variety of therapeutic areas including - central nervous system disorders, nutrition, women’s health and general internal medicine. Our offices are located in the densely populated counties of Pinellas and Hillsborough as well as fast growing Hernando and Manatee Counties. Demographic data shows that Meridien Research is uniquely situated to access research participants from ages 18-90, resulting in high enrollment for birth control, hypertension and Alzheimer’s disease trials, among others.

    Meridien Research was founded in January 2000 by Cathy Collins RN, MSN and Mildred Farmer, MD who have been involved in clinical research since 1990. Meridien’s founding concept is to provide sponsors with the highest quality trial data in a timely fashion. Each center has a site director, principal investigator, sub-investigator, regulatory specialist, recruitment specialist, research assistants, clinical trial coordinators, and laboratory technician resulting in rapid study start up and accurate and efficient data collection. Principal Investigators see patients in the Meridien offices and are devoted 100% to the clinical trial process while at the site. They are experienced clinical investigators with expertise in endocrinology, internal medicine, neurology, family practice and geriatrics.

  • Research Site Description:

    The Brooksville site is located in the Spring Hill/Brooksville area of Hernando County. The office is located on the corner of Ft Dade road and Cortez Blvd (Route 50), one mile east of the Suncoast Parkway (Toll Road 589), approximately 40 minutes north of Tampa International Airport.

    Mildred Farmer, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine and is fellowship trained in Geriatrics. She has been a principal investigator since 1990 for over 500 trials across multiple therapeutic areas. She has particular expertise in cognitive impairment from Age-associated Memory Impairment to Severe Dementia. She has extensive experience in memory, mood disorders, women's health, migraine, smoking cessation, nutrition, geriatrics, and metabolic studies including lipid disorders, diabetes, and hypertension.

    James Andersen, MD is board eligible in Family Practice and a Diplomate of American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Andersen has served 2 terms as the Director, Florida Academy of Family Physicians and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Andersen has been treating patients with addiction (cocaine, opioids, alcohol, and prescription meds) since 1995 in a variety of outpatient treatment centers. Dr. Andersen has been with Meridien Research since 2009 and has served as PI for metabolic studies that include hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders. He also has served as Sub-Investigator for smoking cessation, Alzheimer’s disease (from mild to severe dementia) and mood disorder trials.
