|
A safety and efficacy comparison of two FDA approved medications to control high blood pressure.
Bystolic (nebivolol) and Diovan (valsartan) are being compared in this research study. Both drugs are approved by the FDA for the treatment of high blood pressure.
And up to 15 visit, 16 week study. Clinic visits are performed in the mornings (0700 to 1030).

| Qualified participants must: |
|
Have stage 1 or 2 high blood pressure
If treated, be currently with medication for high blood pressure, have a diastolic blood pressure reading of 90-110 mmHg
Be newly diagnosed high blood pressure patients who have never received medication must have a diastolic blood pressure reading of 95 to 110 mmHg

| Participants may receive: |
|
Study related medical care, laboratory evaluations, close monitoring of blood pressure, study medication or placebo, and up to $750 for attending all study visits. |
