|
The Cholesterol Research Center at the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) needs men and women research participants for a 14-week study on the effects of different dietary patterns and risk factors for heart disease.
If you qualify, you will follow a specific diet for 1 week, then 3 test diets each for 3 weeks. In between the test diets, you will eat your regular home diet for 2 weeks. At the beginning and end of each test diet, you will visit the clinic for laboratory tests. Every week during the study, you will need to visit the clinic to pick up your food and be weighed.

| Qualified participants must: |
|
Be at least 22 years of age
Have a systolic blood pressure < 160 and diastolic blood pressure between 80 - 95
Not be on certain medications including lipid lowering or diabetes medication or hormones
Be able to travel to our clinic in Berkeley
|
| Participants may receive: |
|
Free meals for 10 weeks of the study (you eat your own food for 4 weeks), lab work results, a home blood pressure monitor, $1000 for completing the study, which includes reimbursement for study foods purchased and payment for time and effort.
