Long term study. Study medication. There will not be a placebo. |
| Qualified participants must: |

• Have been diagnosed with diabetes
•
Have had at least one of the following:
• Heart attack or stroke
• history of coronary artery disease
• coronary artery bypass
• angioplasty
• impaired kidney function
• or retinopathy or previous retinal laser surgery
